Jeunesse Classique Ballet

Due to COVID-19 Restrictions all dancers must pre-register online.
These workshops will be capped at 10 dancers each to ensure sufficient physical distancing measures can be maintained.

Join us for an exciting and intensive 8 week repertoire workshop where dancers will learn and polish select works from the Jeunesse Classique Ballet repertoire.

8 week workshops in the JCBS studios in Calgary
Sunday October 4th, 18th, 25th, November 1st, 8th, 15th, 22nd, and 29th
No workshops on the Thanksgiving weekend

1:30pm - 3:00pm - Junior Levels (ballet grades 4, 5, and Intermediate Foundation)
*FULL* 3:15pm - 4:45pm - Senior Levels (ballet grades Intermediate and Up)

Workshop fee: $140 (reduced from $160)
Jeunesse Classique Ballet Society Membership: $20 (per family)
A society membership is required. Families with multiple dancers will receive a refund of excess membership fees.

Workshops will give dancers the opportunity to explore some of the variations and major roles found in our upcoming performances of Giselle, The Nutcracker, and Don Quixote.

Workshop sessions include coaching by Jaciel Gomez and Yairelys Sosa Padin, former dancers with the Cuban National Ballet and Alberta Ballet companies. Jaciel and Yairelys will lead the workshops under the direction of our Artistic Director Mrs Umran Sumen.
Jaciel Gomez:
Jaciel trained at the National Ballet School in Cuba. As a Principal Dancer with the Cuban National Ballet Company and the Alberta Ballet Company, Jaciel worked with many choreographers including George Balanchine, August Bournonville, Alicia Alonso, Igal Perry, James Kelly and Jean Grand-Maitre among others. He has toured around the world and performed many roles including Swan Lake, Don Quixote, Giselle The Magic Flute, Prolongo Para Una Tragedia, Nocturno, Othello, The Nutcracker, The Four Temperments and Divertiment No. 15, Mozart's Requiem to name just a few. Jaciel is a Ballet Master with the International School of Ballet and a regular Guest Artist with Jeunesse Classique Ballet.

Yairelys Sosa Padin:
Yairelys was trained at the Cuban National Ballet where she received classical training in addition to earning her teaching Diploma of classical ballet. As a soloist of the Cuban National Ballet Company, she danced many roles including Alfonisina Pas de deux, Giselle, Sleeping Beauty, Swan Lake, Don Quixote, Romeo and Juliet and many others. She has a solid contemporary, Balanchine and Bournonville repertoire.
As a Dancer with the Alberta Ballet, Yairelys danced in all the major productions including The Nutcracker, Love Lies Bleeding, Cinderella, Madam Butterfly and Fumbling Towards Ecstasy. Yairelys is rehearsal mistress with Jeunesse Classique Ballet.

Jeunesse Classique Ballet is open to all dancers from all studios and syllabus styles. Workshops are scheduled using the RAD grade levels. If you are not an RAD trained dancer and have a question as to which workshop session is best, please contact us for assistance.
Attire: Females: Ballet body suit, pink tights, classical bun, ballet shoes appropriate for level (Pointe Shoes: Intermediate Foundation level and up). Males: appropriate ballet attire (white shirt, black shorts, ballet shoes).
